Woken up at 3:15am, driven down Chagaramas, thrown in Uncle Roger’s boat (not my uncle), we shoved off at 6:00am and in the wide open seas. We parked in the first bocas along with several other spectator boats, waiting and ready for the action. As the first chopper passed we knew the action was on and the first class D boat came bouncing. The other boats came racing by paying close attention to the ‘big guns’, Mr. Solo, Energizer, Rush, Anabolic.. just to name a few! Media-Helicopters were racing right above the race boats capturing the spectacular scene and high paced action. The results are in and the winner is Mr. Solo. I think I did ok for my first great race event, oh and didn’t get sea sick.

The ‘racers’ rowed their make shift rafts, some floating and some sinking… even one team capsized. I never saw so many people paddle and row so hard before. It looked like great fun and very tiring.

So it was that time of the year again, a show to feature the power-boats for the Carib Great Race. Held at the Hasley Crawford Stadium which was packed with people, cars and those huge boats. Already tired and wet from the Karting event at Arima, we pressed on. The Carib Girls were present.. dancing and ‘wining’ from low on the ground, to high up on the ginormous Carib trailer. Seems they were drunk of the Carib beer they were promoting lol. Everything was at this show.. boats, bikes, muscle cars, riced-up Primera’s and B13s, Aaron Downridge’s beast of a Skyline.. all the way down to bake and shark and red Solo.
